what size tank is suitable for 3 small young Discus

the general rule is 10 gal per discus, so minimum 30 gal, although i believe you should really keep at least 5, depending on the size of the discus

yes discus, are shoaling fish (unless in a breeding pair) and they need to be in groups of around 5/6 min. this means that a 50uk gallon tank would be minimum. i would not reccomend getting just 3 because one will become domminant and either kill (by harrasment) or bully the other 2 when there is more there is no agression.
