Hi, I need 2 more discus for my 90g discus tank. I live in Canada. My local fish store has very nice discus for 99$ and 139$ each. This is canadian dollars so about 70-90 euros, 85-120 american dollars. Is this too expensive? I dont need enough fish to order any to the airport from jackwatley....or another reputable breeder...

100 dollars? Holy sh*t. thats alot. how big are they... maybe if they are full grown but i wouldn't want full grown discus anyways...... wow

Im not sure what the exchange rate is but i live in england (hampshire). The nice discus in my area are about £60 pounds sterling. The not so good ones are about £40.

most lfs near me charge £18 for a discus. the online shop tropicalfish4u.co.uk charge £25

another lfs charges £40, but i think thats expensive

Yes, I thought they seemed expensive. I should add that they are the most "perfect" gorgeous disucs I have EVER seen and they are about 4" large...

Decent lfs discus = £30 - £80+

Decent local breeder discus = £30 - £60+

The above prices are for fish around 4 - 5 inches. The above is the average in my local area so may be different to other areas.

Most fish shop sell stunted fish which arnt worth much in my opinion so I would go for a local breeder every time.

I only ever buy my discus from specialist discus breeders or importers.

I have seen a 1.5" discus go for £30 in my LFS and it was crap quality....

Not sure it matters if I mention a name, but mine are from germany and are stendkers - top quality and very nice fishies and I paid the following

6cm marlboro red £15
12cm red turq £40
18cm brown £50

I would class local breeder as the above aslong as they give the right answers to questions regarding to source of fish etc.
