If I change 22 litters on a 160litter tank every 2 to 3 days will this be enough for my discus or will I have to find a bigger bucket ? Thanks guys

I don't think 160 liters is enough for discus  they should be put in a tank at least 200, and that is on the small side.

Agree with above: you should be more worried about finding a bigger tank than a bigger bucket. I consider discus to need a tank which is at least 4 ft long and 2 ft tall.

As for water changes, that depends on your water parameters and stocking.

As for the tank it is a 4foot long 15 wide and 18 tall but I was told it holds 160 litters and as for stocking 4 discus

How long have you had them for? You're supposed to keep at least 6.

I consider 6 to be a minimum because in smaller groups, the dominant fish will pick on the sub-dominant ones, especially with age. The other options are only one fish (which I consider to be a bit cruel) or a proven breeding pair.

Discus are capable of growing very tall, so it would be best if you upgraded to a taller (and ideally wider front to back) tank in the long term. A 48*15*18 inches is fine in the short term, but is likely to affect growth at some point in the future.

So, what are the water parameters and stocking?

I was thinking about adding some angelfish because they live together in the wild and shole together, and what do you mean by the water parameters and stocking ?

I think you should be upping the discus and trying to see if you can get a bigger tank (If you can afford it) for the discus rather than buying angels.
And by water parameters, she means your levels (nitrate, nitrite, ph, etc...) and by stocking Kitty means the type and amount of fish you have in your tank

What snake said :good:

Your first priority *has* to be to get 2 more discus or to get rid of 3 (the first is much better).
Your second priority should be to read about cycling a filter (for example, articles 1, 2, 4, 5 and 8 at http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/277264-beginners-resource-center/ ) because I am starting to get the feeling that your filter is uncycled, especially as you asked about what water parameters are, and an uncycled filter will probably result in the death of the discus unless you intervene.
Your third priority (after your filter is fully cycled, which takes at least 4 weeks and normally 6-10) should be dithers because without dithers, it's very possible for your discus to not act naturally.
Your fourth priority needs to be to upgrade to a tank they can have for life (at least 48l*24t*18w inches).
Only after all of this should you even consider any new fish. Also, discus and angels do not shoal together, but they do dither for each other to some extent. And another thing, as with discus, you should only keep 1, a pair of or 6+ angels, which means you'll need a bigger tank to support all these fish.

Oh and my water parameters levels are nitrate 5 nitrite 0 ph 7.5 ammonia 0 so what your saying is if I get rid of my other 3 and keep one it will be better ?

In the long run, yes. Personally, I think that keeping only one is a very nasty thing to do to a social fish, but it still beats being picked on to death. My recommendation is to get 2 more.

Regardless of whether you keep 1 or 6, you will need a taller tank so the fish can do more than swim in a straight line, so you will need to upgrade.

Your water parameters should be fine for growing discus on. Unless you cycled the filter with household ammonia, or unless it came from an established tank, you are going through a fish-in cycle which means that you can expect to see ammonia within the next week. This will not be fine for the discus, so it is important that you know about fish-in cycling.

No.

Discus school. You need 6.

I think she meant you get rid of all of the discus, or you get 2 more and get a bigger tank.

I believe the referencing of 1, 2, or at least 6 is in regards to the angelfish, which would be factual. And that would require a huge tank to have 6 discus and 6 angels. I'd say no less than 6'x18"x24"

Angels and discus do not school with each other. Angels don't even prefer the high water temp that discus like. I personally would not keep an angel with discus. Angels can be quite aggressive.

best thing to do if you don't wanna upgrade your tank is find a pair, and keep the two, personally wouldn't add angels

I thought even if discus pair, they need to be in schools :S - Could someone correct me?
And even if you kept two, you still need to upgrade as its not big enough for them.
