Hello.....

My Blue Turquoise Discus died today sadly :(

He developed a 'patch' on his side which I took for fungus and thus treated accordingly with Protozin. However it grew and grew and in the end looked like an ugly sore of white with a red border. I'm worried other fish in my community tank are showing signs of developing the same sores....

Can anyone help / advise what it could be?

Can you get us some pics? If we could have a look at the fish, we could better diagnose and suggest treatment for your others.

Buried fish with my 3yr old earlier today I'm afraid.

Wounds that are white on the edges and red in the center are most typically Aeromonas. Those that are red on the edges and white in the center are generally Columnaris. Both are gram negative bacteria. The best treatment for this is any sulfa antibiotic with trimetheprim. This can be put in the water and mixed with food -- if you can find Romet B use it.

For columnaris in the uk myxazin and pimafix.
