Discus-any Advice

Well Jack Wattley and Discus Hans are pretty reputable as well and they would disagree.

Well as hundreds of others (Stendker/Discus Hans, Tony Tan, Wayne Ng, ect.)

No offense, but if a breeder gave you that information, then I highly suggest find another source, no reputable breeder would feed you information like that, seems like he is either knowledgeable or is just in for the money -_-

Honestly though, your fish not mine. Do as you will. I just hate when people ask for advice when they are already set in their ways. Why ask for it if you dont want it. I feel like we go over this every week with people who are interested in buying discus.

This is my experience with growing Dicus in a planted tank. I was given advice from a well known discus website that you should always grow young discus in bare tanks as they can be easily stunted, but that it can be done if you keep up with xtra water changes and bottom cleaning and the fish are no smaller than 3.5-4".
So i got my 5x 3.5-4" fish and went for it. I found it really hard work as growing discus need up to 5x daily feeding with high protein food which i found a nightmare to hoover it daily from under plants where it gets trapped and rots, i ended up thinnig out the plants and just having afew as it was easier, using sand so you can clean the uneaten food easier and 3-4 weekly waterchanges and daily debris syphoning, they grew fine but it was hard work. Now my fish are adults i have it heavily planted with diy co2 running with no problems and 2x weekly water changes.
I would only recommend it it you get larger discus so the risk of stunting them is smaller or get adult discus then its no problem, as long as keep the uneaten food hovered up regulary.
(do plenty of research on discus and water conditions before you consider getting them they are too expensive and beautiful to make mistakes with, good water= good healthy discus)
hope this helps

I was asking for any advice, and from a number of people. I actually dont like your attitude one bit if I am honest, which reading your location hardly surprises me actually.

The breeder may well be wrong, which is why I asked for the advice on here, and did I once say I didnt want it? No I didnt.

I have been keeping fish for over 25 years, and succesfully established a reef tank, which was easier than I had been led to believe, most of the people who gave me advice were completely wrong. So I understand completely the need for water changes, good quailty water etc. Its all about the husbandry, get that right most things will thrive.

I give a damn if you like my attitude? I dont think so. Tell me what my location has to do with anything? I don't care what you think of the country, state or city I live in and I hardly see where that is relevant in the context of this thread of forum. Piss off. I dont like your pompus arrogant anti-American attitude either. If you are such a skilled aquariast get off your ###### and prove it.

Chill guys. I don't want to get tied up in this but I don't want to see anyone get the boot either. People have been wiped for less.
