Hi all,
like the question states could i mix some discus with 5 x clown loaches that are juveniles?

I already have the loaches in my main tank but when I upgrade to a 300l + tank I want to start to keep discus and the loaches would have to go in with them. I know my clowns are peaceful and very gregarious but wouldnt want to stress them or any discus that I may mix with them.

my other fish are cardinal tetra, green tiger barb, 8x puntius partipentazona, 3x elephantnose fish and 3x mixed gourami which would all be going in the new big tank.

oh yes. there is also 1 bristlenose plec in there as well

As far as i know, all the fish that you are planning to keep with the discus are fine, except for the tiger barbs and the puntius partipentazona, correct me if i'm wrong but i think that they will stress the discus quite alot and will be quite aggressive towards them. But the clown loaches are definitely fine with the discus!! :good:

thanks for the reply.

I have a large group of barbs. there are 13 altogether and they tend to just play amongst themselves and don't bother their tankmates. i got a large group for this reason. all my fish see to live well together. i even put 2 angelfish in there whilst their tank was cycling (they were a gift) and they did not get their fins nipped. i will see however and introduce different species to the new tank one at a time to see how things go. i suppose that is the beauty of having 2 tanks. you can add or remove fish as necessary.
