Allo..

Planning to make some peat tea from moss peat.. Can you use it to mineralise the ro water? Or 90% ro and 10% peat tea made from tap water is better?

Ps.. Anyone got any large discus, true altums for sale in southwest?

Thanks

No you can not use it for that.

Changing your parameters and holding them stable is not as easy as you to think. True altums normally require more than some peat tea.

Yes I know it's not easy but its perfectly doable..

I am planning to stop standard minerals addictive for ro water and going for natural option.
Tap with peat and ro mix seems to be best solution out there I guess ..
If I get 4.5ph and undetectable hardness. Ill b happy.

I have done this. I received my altums into 4.2 pH and TDS in the mid 30s. I mix ro/di with my tap, no minerals or ro mix. But my tap is close to neutral and the TDS range between 60 and 83 ppm.

I am not foolish enough to think I could breed these fish, so I am more concerned with moving them up to a 6.0 pH and tds in the 70s and then getting their immune systems to where they can handle tank borne things. This takes me about 5 months. To maintain them I use a mix of catappa leaves, alder cones, rooibos tea and muriatic acid and about 20% ro/di mixed in with my tap.

Thanks for the link. It was good read. I kept altum befor but not in uk. My plan is to breed ( don't laugh) I guess it will take at least a year with adult altums.. Everyone whining about how hard it to breed them but let's see.
