what size tank is this by the way?

mine keeps fine with other bichirs, catfish, large oddballs and american cichlids...sevrums, oscar and geophasus.

Right now he's in my 20 with and african butterfly fish. They're coexisting quite well. Probably cause the little polypterus is only about three inches now. Not to mention, my african butterfly fish is the biggest wuss ever. No small crickets, no bloodworms, only flakes. They hang out alot together, but the polypterus is starting to explore the lower levels more and more.

You may want to watch that combo a bit, I have heard of (and had) many bad experiences in keeping bichirs and ABF together... Bichirs sometimes nip fins, and ABFs have quite the fins for nipping. I have seen it done successfully many times as well, though.

I keep my Birchir with a Oscar and they live together very peacefully and the Birchir actually tries to take food from the Oscars mouth which ain't no mean feat as he's 10 inches long
