I have a 60L tank which is pretty much up to stock now. (3platys,6neons,6Pygmycorys)

And i also have a 5gallon (7US Gallon) tank whcih i was planning to use as a hospital tank.

The only problem is, i REALLY want to put something in it. A betta maybe.

But here is whats running through my head:

-I really should save the small tank as a hospital tank...what if one of my fish gets sick?

Hmm...but i really want a betta, and i hate being asked why i have an empty tank...

-But what if i buy a betta and put it in...but then something from the large tank gets sick, passes it on and the whole tank dies...

Maybe i could rehome the betta temporarily...in a bucket or something, if a fish gets sick.

- yea but what if (after the fish is cured) i put it back into the community tank and put the betta back in the 5Gallon, and it gets sick due to some leftover diesease in the tank or filter.

Oh i dunno

So as you can see im stuck D:<

HALP MEH PLZ.

xD

I havent bought any bettas yet

My main question is, would it be smart to put a betta in my hospital tank, and maybe rehome if the hospital tank is ever needed. And would it be safe to put the betta back in after the occupant of the hospital tank is cured/has died.

Just put a betta in your tank that you have now,

then go to walmart or whatever and buy a 10 gallon for 10 bucks, heater, and make (or buy a cheap one) sponge filter. You can use plastic egg crate or flourscent light fixture covers (like they use in offices)for a hood to cover the tank, these are really cheap, just cut them to size. You dont need any lighting.

There you hospital tank for about 30 US dollars, just throw the sponge filter in one of your exisiting tanks and move it into the hospital tank when needed.

Really? I had know idea 10 gallon tanks were hard to come by over there...why is it impossible, there is no "super store" with a pet section?

Well either way good luck with your hospital tank, you will save yourself a ton of headaches by setting one up, so good job :good:
