Different types of internal parasite

That being the case, worms are not protozonal and metronidazole only effectively treats protozoan. At least, so far as I know. Colin will effectively deal with this.
OK! I hope colin gets online soon!

There are two types of intestinal worms - flat worms (eg tapeworms) and round worms (eg camallanus worms). There are three types of medication, but I don't know which brands contain them in the US.

Levamisole treats only round worms
Praziquantel treats only flat worms
Flubendazole treats both.

I know that in the UK Kusuri Wormer Plus (powder) and NT Labs Anti Fluke & Wormer (liquid) contain flubendazole but i have no idea whther these are available in the US. (Womer Plus is a powder which is harder to dose in small tanks as it's marketed for large tanks with discus)

How do you know you have what you think you have in these fish. You should only treat for something that you know exists.

@Colin_T @Byron
i have just found another simpler option: medicated food
which one should i get?
None. Most of the medications in that link are metronidazole, which is used to treat internal protozoan infections in fish. They will not help with intestinal worms.

The most common intestinal worms in livebearers (guppies, platies, swordtails & mollies) are round or thread worms. Round and thread worms are the same thing, just some people call them round worms and others call them thread worms. The worms most commonly found in fish are Camallanus or Capillaria. Camallanus are extremely common in guppies and other common livebearers.

Levamisole or Flubendazole will treat round/ thread worms in fish.

i agree but it some also say it is more for edvanced things?
how should i use it if i buy a non fish product

Flubendazole is a dewormer. It is not used for anything except treating intestinal worms in animals and birds, and has been adapted for fish.

I don't know about the dose rates when using the animal wormer on fish. You would be better off looking for the product that is made for fish.
