Dieses Madchen 55G Tank Journal

Hmmm, true. Our tank will be literally in the centre of the living room of the house. Will be the first thing you see when you walk in so i can't really screw it up. It will be there for all to see when we eat, relax, watch telly, whatever so i'm going steady and doing it right.

No point in dredging the streams near me for sand, its all clay and silt, kids have come home covered in the stuff often enough.

I'll just take it steady and do it right, if i have 3 fish and some pebbles in there for a bit then so be it. I do have a mental picture of what i'd like and for me at least i want the tank to be fish biased. 2 cory shoals something zippy for the top of the tank and maybe a couple of angels for a centre. I know my knowledge is basic to say the least so i'm starting safe and working up.

Yours looks to be a similar size mine will be 60#18 and 15wide, the killer being it will be viewed from 3 sides making the planning just that little bit trickier.

I'll be watching for idea's

Yeah, I am taking it slow myself. This will be my third tank setup and it will be without a doubt the best one. I have learned much from this forum and have a lot of ideas that I would like to try, and I will see what suits us best. Hard to believe that I am putting this much planning into this. I guess that is what happens when you bounce things off other in the hobby. I am really looking forward to when I get the point of this project to start trying some different scape ideas.

Looking good!! Cant wait to see it all set up!! Sounds like your going the same route that I am!! I found a great piece of root drift wood at the creek. I picked up my sand there last night, I have plants from the river, and ponds. All that I'm waiting on is a dresser that Im going to set the tank on!!

You should start a journal too. We could bounce ideas off each other lol create identical tanks!

Well I finally got paid and was able to finally get some mission essential piece for my tank. Such as a heater and filter!! YAY! We also came by some cliffs and stuff on the way to the LFS that provided for a really inexpensive fix to our aquarium decor problem. Inexpensive as in FREE! WOOT!
Also, I manages to get the majority of the water marks of the tank , with the exception of the glass itself. Is there anything that is aquarium safe that I can use to remove these. It looks gross, although when the tank has water in it, they disappear, but when its empty it looks gross. Or should I not worry about them?

So, I know that this is supposed to be a 55g tank journal.....but my husband knows me well, and found a really nice 75g with a stand. So I do believe that this will enable me to build a bigger tank for the Malawis I am planning to get

I over filter as it is. The filter I bought for the 55g filters tanks up to 90g, and I have a smaller filter for a 40g that I can add on as well The heater also heats up to 90 gallons, but I have extra heaters as well

6 x Pseudotropheus flavus
5 x Pseudotropheus socolofi

Do you think this stocking will work? Or should I choose a different species? I know your are the one to ask when it comes to Malawis
