I went to clean my tank today with a water change and noticed that my honey gourami who has recently changed colour, (very orange with black stripe on head and underside and yellow fins on top). He has been hanging around my filter(internal) at the back where there is no water current breaking the surface up and today I noticed alot of tiny bubbles in the corner ontop of the water and around the filter head at the back. Was this its bubble nest???? I destroyed the bubbles because of the water change, will this make my fish unhappy???

This is my picture what I took before the water change.

Pics aren't working but your Gourami will be fine. You'll probably find another nest tomorrow...

they worked in the other forum area lol, I have 10 fish allready in my 10 gal so If they do have babies will they eat them and get rid of them??? sounds cruel.

I can't imagine that the fry will have much of a chance in a 10 gallon community.

Sorry, I don't know what happened to the pictures. They were showing in the other section. I will ask the other mod's if they can help with this.

Exactly the same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago with my male gold gourami. It had bubble nested right next to the intake of my Juwel internal. Changing the water and thus destroying the nest didn't seem to make him any more happy or sad (he's a grump). I guess he was practicing

A bubble nest destroyed by your actions will be replaced by the gourami in short order. If there were actually fry or eggs present, the male will take the effort to rebuild the nest. You may have caused some extra work for the male but unless you actually sucked up the old bubble nest, there will be little effect on the progress of a particular spawning. Most males will do what is needed to keep a nest and its occupants in good shape. As long as you don't do anything to prevent rebuilding, all will go as it should for your fish's brood.
