Bearing in mind that I live in the far South-East of the UK in Hastings, I was wondering if there exists such a thing as a 'destination fish shop'.

I have some good shops nearby but wondered if there's some sort of fabulous tropical fish emporium in the area where you can find species you don't normally see and spend hours staring into tanks full of wonder.

I've looked at shop listings but you don't get much of an impression of size and range of stock from lists and ads.

Thank you.

Hmmm dont know much about the South but two names I have heard about are Trimar which I think is in Cornwall? And Wholesale Aquatics in Bethnal Green in London is pretty legendary. I have no idea where they are in relation to you lol.

If you ever fancy a city break around fish though you should go to Manchester :) Pier Aquatics and Rare Aquatics are in close proximity plus 3 or 4 other well known shops.

Also probably abit far but wharf aquatics and Waterzoo are both very good

Thanks. That's a bit far to get a fish home before the water cools down though, isn't it? ;)

Not really, if you get a poly box or a cool box or bag you can keep the temp pretty stable.

Fish are shipped from other countries to get to us so a trip down the M1 is not much :/

Nope - my discus came the whole length of the country. Down South to Lancashire via Scotland!!!!

That's a good point. Anyway, the place in Bethnal Green looks good and that's not too far. I used to live round the corner.

Thanks.

No probs thats a great shop :) The aquatic design cener on great portland st is worth a look as well :) Not sure how far away it is from you but Wildwoods is in Enfield I think which again is a good shop but I hear mixed reviews on the health of some fish but thats usually from people that have ordered postage.
