Fish Gatherer

I have recently separated my males and females (and babies) into separate tanks to limit breeding.
My males (6 of them) have remained in the original tank. Prince is my original male of unknown age, though I've had him for about 4-5 months. He was bought from the pet store. The 5 others are offspring of pet shop females and their unknown male matings. My 5 young males are doing great, very active... but Prince seems to have lost his purpose in life now that the females have been removed. He isn't all that active, I think his tail looks a bit droopy... but not in a clamped fins type of way, like that thing part of his body leading to his tail has drooped. Today he seems to be swimming at the bottom of the tank, about the bottom 2 inches. He is still eating and perks up when I come to look at him or another male swims close by.
What do you think this is? Could he be missing his ladies? He was especially fond of one particular female. Or could this be his age showing? As I have no idea what age he actually is.
