hi my new tank which is cycling still doesn't have anything in it. my plan is for lots of root type bogwood with quite a few plants and rocks but i cant decide what substrate, im going to have rams and maybe corys in there so am thinking sand but not sure on colour, what would you go for?
Also would it be worth mixing the sand and some gravel to make it look more natural?
is there any other options other than sand and gravel?

With cory's I would stick with the sand as rougher substrates can cut them as they root around the substrate. When I had a sand in my tank I did put an area of gravel on one side as I wanted it to look like a shoreline....Cory's and plec soon sorted that out it will all eventually get mixed up!

Lots of different types of sand you can use, just depends on your budget. Argos play sand is fine you just have to wash it loads before sticking it in your tank.

I have play sand in my 90L but i would like a more natural substrate
