another q, how the living mother fish do i get the snails and eggs out of my filter? i have assasin snails but they do jack!

Feed less so they starve to death.

i only feed them once a day and even then i feed them only what they eat (the rest is fished out (no pun intended)) but they are still here! I think they feed off of the stuff in my filter, could i use some of the stuff that knocks snails out (if i remove my assasins) over and over untill they drop dead?

That sort of stuff usually caused more problems than it solves and can harm some species of fish too. If you're having to fish out food after feeding, isn't that an indication of too much? It would be impossible for you to remove all the food that way.. You might want to try feeding half of what you do each time, but increase the number of times you feed.

I only feed one pinch and there are only a few flakes left after that. I only feed them 3/4 of the amount and they eat all of it now. Wont the snails dying off upset the ammonia levels as they decompose?

Normal, small snails are very low bio-load, whether they are alive or not.

Generally, only snails of the Pomacea genus and similar produce enough ammonia at death for it to affect the aquarium and in fact, it is so much ammonia that it will often cause serious problems in aquariums under 15 gallons in volume.

ok, thanks. i think i have a substitute for my assasin snails now - i just saw my mollies attacking and eating the baby ones!
