Hi Folks,

I was wondering, if you add Seachem Prime to a bucket of tap water before adding it to your tank, for a partial water change, how long do you need to wait before adding it?

Should you let it slip overnight, or does the Prime just work immediately, and dechlorinate your bucket of water? Can you just add the water immediately, if you add Prime?

Thanks,

Add the dechlorinator, give the bucket a bit of a stirr, and dump it in. Dechlorinators work very quickly, many people with large tanks add it to the tank and then run tap water straight in.

It works practically instantly, in less time than it took you to read this.

dunno exactly, but I normally add my dechlor as im filling up my 10L bucket from the tap, to give it a few mins to kick in.

Cant say i've had any problems

Yup, just toss it into the stream of tap water that's going straight into the tank. If you are fishless cycling, its probably worth it to attempt to make the measurement of dechlorinator fairly accurate. Its long been recommended that too much is better than not enough, but there are also some recent indications that the developing bacteria don't like too much dechlor.

As soon as I have some water in the bottom of the bucket, the Prime goes in. When the bucket is full, I carry it to the tank and in it goes. It acts fast enough that my only real concern is good mixing. By running the water into the bucket with the Prime in place, I figure it's as well mixed as it will ever get.
