Does anyone know if dechlorinator "gets rid" of copper?

Im just worried cause we have copper pipes, and i dont want to poison my shrimps :( lol

haha yeah.. i was thinking "what about putting the plants into water that's been heavily dosed with dechlor?"

and then i was like... does dechlor even deal with copper? lol
 
Some do and some don't. You need to get a dechlorinator/ water conditioner that traps or binds heavy metals.
You should also run you tap for a minute or two before collecting the water for your tank. This helps to flush out any copper that has leached into the water from the pipes.
If you have carbon in the filter it will help absorb copper from the water. It will also remove plant fertiliser from the water.
