Just wondering how long to wait when adding this to fresh water. What I mean is for every bucket I add it to how long should I leave to let it mix before pouring into the tank when doing water changes.

It's near instantaneous. Certainly by the time you've given it a quick stir, it'll be perfectly safe.

Lucky this time :shifty: if unsure, best to ask before trying things :hey:

You can always add the dechlorinator directly to the tank, then add the 'neat' water to the tank directly from the buckets. Many people here do it this way, it is much easier...

That's also how the No-Spil by Python works. Add dechlor to tank and fill.

I have always been a little concerned when I hear people putting the dechlorinator straight into the tank but I assume it will remain fully active and work on the fresh water pretty quickly...?
I also assume you have to add enough just new water volume because if total water volume then surely there would be something left over, 'waiting' for Chlorine?

You dose the entire volume of the tank.

I dose only for the additional water I am adding.

Some may think "But the dechlorniator will become diluted!!!"

But - don't forget, the fresh chlorinated water also becomes diluted at the exact same ratio...

I believe the manufacturers recommend dosing the whole tank when not using buckets. At a dollar or two a year, I won't skimp on dechlor. As far as using it in buckets, I dose while a bucket is filling and it mixes well during the fill. The bucket then goes right into the tank with no delay and no troubles for the fish.

Hello on this matter is the chemical the manufactures use the same? Basically are there better brands than others ?

The reason I asked is because surely to know whether to dose at tank or refill volume you have to understand what is going on at a chemical level..?

Also a few bucks a extra a year? It would cost a fair bit more for me lol it is about $15 for a 250ml of Hagan here..

I don't use Hagen and I don't buy 250 ml at a time. The last container I bought at ebay for around $15 was a 500 ml bottle of Prime. Prime you use 1 ml for 40 litres so you can see that 500 ml will go a long way. For each aquariumj, if you figure that you use 1 ml a week, I have an 8 year supply so around $2 per year. Most people have taken to using Prime, not because it's the best since they are all about the same, but because it costs so much less in actual use. It is packaged by Seachem and is quite concentrated.

^^^^^

That's the reason I use it. It's cheap, effective, and readily available. The 500 ml bottles used to come with a graduated dropper. I still have mine from the first 500 ml I bought many years ago.
