Deadly Hair Algae

I found my platy hanging in some plants, not moving, then realized he was STUCK---a bunch of hair algae was coming out of his mouth, and he couldn't move. It wasn't easy to pull out. I thought I might have killed him, pulling it out, as it seemed to go as far as his stomach. He swam away and disappeared for awhile but this morning I saw him swimming. I just gave him a little flake food (usually he gets live food) but after he ate it, he spat it out. His mouth is probably damaged, but I'm hoping it will heal. I'll give him some time, then ALL THE PLANTS will be replanted, no hair algae allowed! I never heard of this happening before.

I have one aquarium that’s Hair Algae USA . I see fish getting stuck but they pull through okay . Keep a long skinny stick like a chopstick at hand to help them with .
