Dead Cory - Please Help!

Sadly that cory is very ill they do that when they are dying, laying to one side, corys are prone to bacterial infections and when the lay to one side it a sign of one, the chances are slim now but i would carry on for now with the bacterial med, bless him.

Ping, Conan and Pepper....
I fed them to try and get better pics :)

Has the corys always had them golden yellow patches on the gill area.
If not i would say velvet and bacterial problems on top as parasites can cuase bacterial infections.

Well.....that's what I thought.....him lying to one side meant he was dying....but he has been doing this for months :( I would hate it he had been suffering for months :( I tried treatment for bacterial infections but it didn't seem to help....when there's food however he does become active??

In the first pic the eye looks cloudy which can be due to parasites and bacterial infections.

The gills only appear that shiny in the pics because of the flash....so yes they have always looked like that??

Sorry....was a bad picture.....it seems to have picked up those white/grey things I told you about earlier that are on the glass

Looking at Conan, is his spine becoming deformed (last picture)? Also does one of his eyes look wierd like it bulging out (first pix on this page)?

Don't know?? Don't think so.....he seems to be the most healthy? Can they be deformed? What would cause that?

If i have followed everything going on correctly, Conan seems to have had health issues going on for an extended period. There is a disease called fish TB, which is a bacterial infection that takes a long time to kill. One of the trademark signs of this is a bent S shaped spine, which I think i am seeing in the last picture. Other signs can be pop eye (the bulging eye in the first pix, look at the left side)? It is also very hard if not impossible to cure, which is why it would not have responded to antibiotic medicines you have used.

For the other fish, i would agree with wilder that there is a combo of parasites and bacterial illnesses going on.

Now that you mention it...after his first infection...I did think he lost one of his eyes but was never sure?
Poor thing really has been in the wars :( Near the eye that I thought went bad....he has a small piece of skin that appears to shine in the light??

Hi tttnjfttt,

thanks for the advice....just to confirm....the first two pics are of Dino....my Sterbai and the last few of Conan....my Shwartz.....which one are we speaking about? ;) Dino is the one that has been sick for a while whereas Shwartz is new and seems quite healthy other than his slightly curved spine in th last pic ;)

Thanks Wilder...I will try that :)

Oh dear
:-(

I suppose it's too late to isolate him...as the other fish might have this TB disease by now? Or is it not contagious?
