Typical I post about water stats (post here http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=267674 ) then when doing a water change I notice a problem.
1 female danio is swimming apart from her tank mates, her belly is swollen and her anus is slightly red - more pink than red but...
She did poo while I was peering at her and trying to make her turn around so I could get a good look at her - seems to be fine, darkish brown not more than 5mm long.
Her gills don't look reddened at all, her eyes are bright, her overall colour is good, her fins aren't clamped, scales aren't standing out, she just looks like she ate a very very big dinner.
All the others look fine.

All you can do is epson salt baths to help draw the fluids out. And bacterial med in isolation.
Inflamed anus can be dropsy to internal parasites.
If her poo brown dosn't sound like internal parasites.
Is the fish male or female.
Is the tail or spine bending.

It's a female and other than her belly being bloated/swollen and her anus being slightly red/pink, she looks fine, no spine/tail bending.
Will see if tesco have any epsom salts when I go shortly. How much should I use to how much water?
Re bacterial meds - I have pimafix and melafix, but I think (must check bottles) they are fungal rather than bacterial...

Thanks for the link.
Tried half a dozen shops, seems nowhere has epson salts.
She's looking a little less swollen today, although her anus is still pink.

I feed various stuff freeze dried bloodworms, daphnia and brine shrimp (1 meal per week), crushed flake or hikari micro wafers the rest of the time.
The bloodworms I have are freeze dried and they get them at one meal per week and then only about a dozen pieces (about 3-4mm long) between the 7 fish.

Looks like I'll be shopping for frozen foods from now on instead then.
She went to the toilet last night when I was getting a look at her (very obliging), and I have seen her go today as well. I couldn't say how often as I've been in and out a lot today.
Both times it was a darkish brown and not more than 5mm long.

I hope fish don't get embarrassed by their humans discussing their toilet habits :fish:

Lol.
Ok thats fine then if she going to the toilet and its brown.
Good Luck.

When I did todays water change she is looking less red and only very slightly pink in the anal region.
To be honest I might not notice it now if I wasn't actually looking for it.
She's still "fatter" then the other females, but defintely less than she was yesterday.

Thanks Wilder =)
I think (hope?) she's getting better, will be keeping a close eye on her.
They're on their "starvation" day today.

... and this morning she has a greyish stringy poo
Anti Internal Parasite med required if I understand correct?
Although she is almost back to normal size, slightly larger than the other females, but she is overall the biggest anyway.

Sounds like she getting better well done.
Try some peas to give your fish a good flush through.

Well, I got the interpet anti internal bacteria med and this morning I had to get up close to identify which was the "poorly" fish.
She's completely unswollen, no pinkness around the anus at all.
Do meds really work that fast or was it just co-incidence given that she seemed to be improving anyway? I'll do the second dose on day 4 as instructed but I think we're pretty much fixed.

Thanks Wilder, really appreciate the time you took to help me out on this =)

It could of just been a case of constipation.
It's up to you if you feed the freeze dried foods but if you do I would only feed them once a week.
Glad she back to normal.

Are you sure shes not just been bloated with eggs? My female danios look like little fat round balls before they shed their eggs!

It's possible but then she did have the reddening of her anus and one instance of stringy poo.
On the other hand they have been doing a lot of "mating chases" most mornings - drives the cats insane trying to keep up with watching them.
