The-Wolf
Ex-LFS manager/ keeper of over 30 danio species

Scientific name/s: Danio hikari, Danio sp hikari blue Danio sp hikari yellow.
Family: Cyprinidae.
Origin: Asia.
Maximum size: 2.75"/7cm.
Ideal Temperature: 68-78F (20-26 C).
Description: Similar, in body shape to Danio rerio. Deep blue lateral line running from gills to tail highlighted with a bright yellow. These are often sold as two separate species (hikari blue & hikari yellow.)
Feeding: Will accept flake floods, pellets. Loves live foods such as bloodworms and daphnia.
Breeding: Medium. Egg-scattering like other danios. Easiest using breeding tank with lots of feathery plants, remove adults after eggs are laid.
Sexing: Males are yellowish on the fins and females are blue. This is why they are often confused as two species.
Note: Like all danios hikari are a community fish & should be kept in a school of at least 5. Hikari danios are one of the best coloured danios. When all ideal conditions are met, then the brightness of their colours is shown at their most splendid.
