Dangerously High Ammonia Levels! = (

wow! the size of its eye?! yeah my parrots eat like theyre starving i mostly feed them jumbo krill and they eat like 4 pieces each .... i'd say thats alot bigger than the size of their eye

 I have a 9" oscar that would eat me out of house & home if I let him. For some reason he loves the sinking algae tabs, I could toss one in every 10 seconds and he will keep eating.

Healthy fish will always act like they are starving, it's a basic survival mechanisim. The only time I've seen a cichlid eat more slowly is if it is in a tank by itself and knows it. My oscar knows there's a plec on the bottom waiting for those tabs.

  Does he just eat them whole or pick it apart? I will have to keep that in mind as I am getting an oscar as soon as get my new 120 gallon :hey:

I just did another water change .... about 25%. My fish seem to be hanging in there, but my parrots look really really red, and they're usually like a whitish pink... could that be from the ammonia burning their skin?

If you can afford another filter or just a filter pad try SeaChems purigen pad, it worked for me.
Lowers ammonia fairly quickly. But that and a low turnover filter should do the trick without doing it too fast ....
Better than dead fish, SeaChem primes also good at detoxifying (or whatever you call it) ammonia and nitrite.

He grabs them whole, after about the third one in less than a minute he just chews them up & spews particles out his gills, typical oscar.

Good news I did the water change and tested the ammonia and it went way down. = )
So ammonia's good, I tested the nitrIte and it's good as well, ............ but..... I tested the nitrAte and it's pretty high its at like 70 ppm .............. is high nitrAte bad......what do I do?

You'll still need to keep doing water changes. This means that your tank is trying to cycle and get back up to a good healthy level of bacteria. In order to bring nitrate down you need to keep doiong water changes. Nitrates can be bad if they get higher then 40ppm.
