Damnedest Thing!

Woke up to find my Neolamprologus Caudopunctatus practically dead. Gasping and not being able to stay off the bottom for very long. The other fish were bothering it and I had to go to work so I netted it (very easily) and popped it in a floating breeding trap.
I half expected it to be dead on my return but it was still hanging on, laying on it's side.

When I opened the flap of the tank to check it out the little blighter took a leap out of the trap and into the tank and hid it's self away. Next morning it was it's old self and feeding well and now, 3 days later is as healthy as ever!

Maybe it caught the fish equivalent of man-flu for 24 hours?

Same thing happened to a new albino zebra cichlid my boyfriend and I got. Despite adding more than one new fish to the tank, the other ganged up and beat him up. He was floating in the tank on his side so we put him into a 10 gallon QT with some young cichlids. He couldn't keep up right. He was on his side in the gravel, the babies nipping at him like, "Is it dead yet?"

And the following day...up and swimming around even though his entire tail fin was gone and everything.

hadnt perhaps caught a bit of gravel/food/debris and done a bit of choking? quite common in greedy cichlids...

All sounds feesable (not sure of the man-flu though, that last more than 24hrs surely!)

Still going strong mind you I do keep really good water
