Cycling Problems.

It says one tablet per 2.3L.

So If I'm dosing x5 over I'll have like a tablet per 1/2 litre.

I'm just saying because I'll need 75 tablets and it sounds like loads.

That'd mean I'd be dosing 30 grams of Sodium dichloroisocyanurate.

That's almost 1 gram per litre.

It may be an idea to just use the stated dose. Although it will be possible to disolve two tablets per litre, it is probibly a bit excesive. Chlorine bleach will do the same thing, and is just as safe (relatively) i.e. it is possible to clear it up with de-chlorinator. You can tell chlorine bleach by smell. If it smells like a public swimming pool, it is chlorine bleach. do not put your nose directly over the bottle to sniff it, as this may harm your health. Bleach will work out cheaper, and the correct type is safe to use, if you rinse well and use de-chlorinator in one of the rinse cycles.

I already have 44 tablets of that stuff, so If I'm doing normal dose I only need 15, I just thought it'd be over doing it.

Do I still need to use extra dechlor if I just dose normally with the tablets?

Yes. You are putting way more than the normal amount chlorine into the water, (OK, you're chucking 99% of it away and then filling with mega dechlorinated water, but still, its the residue we've got to worry about).

Dude, what do YOU think?

This is really rough science stuff here. GUESS! Like I said, more than the normal dose. 2x, 3x whatever really.

IF it were me, I'd go 3x. Just to make sure, but then again not to waste to much ££££££££

Yeah since I've got 44 tablets then 3x would be about right so I guess that fits.

Ok So far I've sterilised and I just now have done a refill with 3x the dose, tomorrow I'll refill when I get new dechlorinator. (It's actually ran out after 1 years!).

probably doesn't have any impact on the situation at all, but i was just wondering what type of substrate you had in the tank? because sand can also cause an anaerobic bacteria problem if too thick a layer is used. as i say probably nothing to do with it, but thought it was worth mentioning.
