Cycling - Keep Light On?

Hi, I just started fishless cycling in my 72 gallon bowfront. Currently I do not have any plants in so I was wondering if I need to keep the light on. Will the lamp provide any benefits for bacteria growth or am I just wasting electricity?

Wasting electricity. The bacteria can live in the dark.

Without any plants, there is no need to use artificial lighting. It can lead to algae problems and is not needed.
