My nitrites have started to go down, I seen this by accident as forgot about my tests I was doing for ammonia and nitrite and left them for 10 mins while I was on here replying to a post.
I always gave up looking at the nitrite test when the liquid turned purple straight away as it hit the tank water sample and throw the lot down the sink, but after the 10 mins (by accident) I saw that my nitrite test had gone blue, I know that the test must be read 5 minutes later, so I re-did the test and checked after 5 minutes I had a reading of 0.50ppm nitrites.
(SO EVEN IF THE DROPS TURN PURPLE STRAIGHT AWAY FOR THE NITRITE TEST, BE PATIENT! DO THE TEST PROPERLY)

Nitrite 0.25ppm
dosed 3 ml Ammonia
