I've read a fair bit about this annoying blue green Cyanobacteria (which i have a massive outbreak of) and came across a product on Aqua Essentials website called Colombo Aerocol. I think it must be a Dutch product as there is very little info about it in English on the web. I just wondered if anybody has used this product before and whether or not it was effective? I have tried removing as much as possible with gravel siphons and nets and frequent water changes, etc but the stuff comes back literally overnight

To get rid of it;

remove as much as possible
50-80% water change
3 day black out (cover tank so no light enters, no fedding or peeking either)
uncover tank, if it is still there then cover for a further 2 days
50-80% water change

That will get rid of it, but depending on other factors in your setup it could return
We need some more details on your setup
tank size, lighting, fertilisation/ CO2 injection, is there much sunlight or natural light on the tank?, filtration & powerheads, how long has it been setup?

And no I havent heard of it, send an email and ask for the chemicals in it :good:
thanks, Aaron

The tank is a Fluval flora all-in-one type set up but currently i'm not using the useless co2 unit that comes with it. Its 30 litres, Fluval Nano filter, Stratum substrate, densely planted. Thanks for the advise i'll try what you say there

I would try adding some ferts (after the blackout) as you may be running low on Nitrate. Make sure the fert you buy contains a nitrogen source as many dont. The other most likley problem would be lack of circulation if its densely planted.

Thanks, Aaron
