Could I put a bit cuttle fish bone in for my snails and also shrimp to get calcium from?
would it kill the fish or anything?

It's fine to add in - it will float so you need to weigh it down a little

FYI you can get a bad bit of cuttle bone which can pollute and kill the tank, its rare but happens one of the reasons i went on to tums for my snails, having 500+ apple snail at any one time made it far cleaner to drop a few in a forget
