Current?

hi i have a 60 litre tank with a stingray filter, it has an adjustable head for changing direction of the flow but some of my fish seem to love the current pointing down the tank i.e danios. but my guppies hate it and try to swim against it but eventually give up and bet blown to the far side of the tank. i have had the filter pointing at the glass for the last month and the guppies seem a lot happier and are now swimming lower down the tank and are exploring the tank a bit. but i think the danios are board and all the guppies now have rips in there tails which i suspect the danios may have caused. is there a solution to this and which way should the filter face? thanks for the help.

What else is in your tank? I wouldn't expect the zebras to nip

imo the stingrays filters blow out way to much flow, and don't have much contact time with media. You could bung the middle bit with filter floss, to stem the flow.

I think it depends on the individual fish, but my danios nipped my guppies before I got rid of them, now the danios nip each other, I need to take them back to the shop anyway, the tank is far to small, I was sold them in the darker more ignorant days of my hobby.

Are you sure the Guppies didn't like it? My Platys try to swim into my flow and can't but they seem to do it on purpose like they enjoy it. Unless I'm reading that wrong? But I always just assumed to them it's like us having a power shower

There is 3 platys, 2 dwarf gourami, 4 corys and 5 ottos but this started before the platys and ottos. my platys seem to like the high flow but the guppies defiantly dont they end up pressed against the glass at the far side =( a few months ago the filter started realy rattling and sounding like it was about to die, i dismantled it and put it back together but didn't really do anything so im thinking of upgrading to a better filter. thanks for all the replays = )
