So, after some mistakes and a few changes, I think we've got a good tank going. Its been up and running for about 6 weeks as it is now.
Current stocking - 46 gallon bow front (pic in signature line)
1 angel
1 golden algae eater (he might have to go, he's aggressive already)
1 dwarf pleco
1 serpea tetra
6 black skirt tetra
5 platy
all artificial plants

I do believe we have a platy that is pregnant. My question is, do you think we have enough places for fry to hide?? I'm not really concerned about all the fry making it but it would be nice to see some of them grow up. I don't really have the option of a fry tank. We're in an apartment and can't set up another tank. This one is pushing the land lady's comfort zone.

Thanks in advance for any advice :D

Looks like there is quite a bit of space for some fry to hide. Perhaps put in some plants like horn wort or java moss. Hope this helps.

Oh, and not only will the platy parents cannibalize the fry, but the angel fish will also regard them as a tasty snack.

There is a little java moss in the front. I've had it tied down to terra cotta plates hoping it will attach. I haven't been having much luck with live plants.

Sorry that I didn't see the Java Moss. If you could make a tank divider to temporarily divide the tank, so the fry would have space to live safely until they are big enough to not get eaten, that could work. A divider is cheap and easy to make, and you can find many articles about it online. Just so you know, there will be A LOT of fry.
