growing quickly now, will probably keep a couple of pairs and sell the rest on!

Ouch, they are looking good, just made out the tiny one, do you think it will survive. I'm always cutting my hand on the glass at the top of the tank when I'm cleaning, glad I don't have vampire fish.

haha, well for a while all the bigger ones chased the small one but they seem to have stopped doing it now, don't know why its small, it hatched at the same time as the rest of them! i hope it lives, it seems to be going strong, there is another one of them about 2/3 the size of the bigger ones with a funny eye, its like its eye ball is there but has no pupil! doesn't seem to bother it, it eats and can see it looking for food, wouldn't know any difference i suppose, being born like that, it would just be normal to the fish wouldn't it!

cute!!!

send them my way give my Red Bellies something different to chew on than lancefish lol

oh, couldn't do that!! if i was into breeding fish as food they would go in my tank for the rays and tiger fish! couldn't do it with cutteri though, not many knocking about.

couldn;t do it myself to be honest though

hows the runt baby? my Channa Orientalis had a little runt as well eat a lot but never grew much in the time I had them

well it seems healthy enough, it eats what the others do, well can't quite manage a full sized bloodworm like the others but you know what i meen, it eats enough anyway, just never grows! i think in all animals aswel as fish most who give birth/ lay eggs to numerous young have runts or a runt, pretty sure its quite normal! the one with one eye on the other hand is not normal!

very cute. good luck with them. Keep posting the photos as they grow its fun to see how they change.

I googled them too. Lovely looking fish. Kicking myself for getting rid of my other tank now. But there may be another freebie tank in the offering, just got to get around the other half first.

haha, i could have as many tanks as i like so im lucky, size is a limit and so is space, and now i have the big tank with the rays time is also a restriction, hence why i recently sold the parents of these babies, by the time these guys are 1" and ready to sell i may set up another tank and keep a pair as they are stunning little cichlids and there aren't many about at all, i was surprised it took me as long as it did to sell the breeding pair! most of these babies will be for sale on here once they reach about 1" and are showing their colours!
they need minimal attention, just neutural water, gravel a few rocks and maybe a couple of plants and woodto soften the water and bobs your uncle!
another reason why the pair went was becaus they was breeding every month and i had no room for more fry, and they got aggressive towards my young rotkeil severums, and killed one, that was the last straw and they went! they went to a guy in the same town who is setting up a fish room and wants to breed them so i think they will be happy!

same kinda thing happend with me jags mate had aload of large fry and then a few that where tiny now the tiny ones are bigger then the larger ones

My second tank is full of Apple snails, but would like yet another tank. My main problem is space, I keep dropping hints like we could loose an armchair, create more space etc cunning eh.
