Never seen one of these before. If I'd had the cash I'd have bought him he was gorgeous and very active. I've never heard of this fish. Out of curiousity what are they like and has anyone ever kept one?

my phone pic doesn't do it justice enouhg. it was too long and thin for ornate. It was also about 5 cm long and very active

it does state on the tank what species it is. P.teugelsi (found only in the Cross river) is the most recently discovered and described polypterid. The care and maintenence of one polypterid species is pretty much the same for all.-Anne

yeap the 'cross river' thing is just a common name which i think isn't very commonly used though. invader has one of these if i'm not mistaken, you could try asking her opinion

i just saw the price on that thing :hyper: well if you came across one of these in my area and it was going for anything higher than $40 it'd be a rip off

Ha, I don't think you will find one at that price, unless they didn't know what it was!

The only species i can find around Chicago for less than $40.00 are senegals.Dels, pollis, ornates al seem to strat around the forty dollar mark-Anne

i think its the area thing  asia tends to have fishes much cheaper than other countries. senegals start at $3 and you could have a small silver aro from $15.

with the current economic state, if i remember £1 = $1
At the moment,
So you'd be wrong

Edit - Sorry for reviving topic,
I didnt look at the date.
