hi
well i got a early x-mas gift today, one of my friends showed up at my door with a fully equipped 33gl tank, that she got for free, great news until i inspect it properly and knowdice this triangle shaped crack in the bottom pane, no idea how it got there. But everything else seems barely used and the rest of the sealent & tank look great.(this would be a great upgrade from my 10gl) I'm a little scared of fixing it myself and it leek again. Is it hard to do ? or is it expensive to get it fixed? and where would i go just regular glass fixing place
and also not sure if it shows in pictures but the crack goes all the way to both side, but piece is stationnary
here are links to my pics of the crack

any input would be great since i'm still new at all this
thanks and merry christmas

the entire pane of glass would need to be placed to be honest.
a temporary fix will never be strong enough to support the water/weight
not to mention if would be constantly on your mind about the fact it could start leaking!!!

if you went to a glass shop they would probably replace the entire pane of glass.

You need to replace to whole panel.... you "could" glue another sheet over the top, but it would look lousey and if you are buying the panel anyway - you may as well do it right, its not difficult...

If you need some encouragment, take a cup of water and tip it on your carpet.... now imagine a tankfull ! Water exerts a massive pressure onto the glass

I've just put another pane of glass into one of my breeding tanks to fix a 4" crack in the corner of the tank. Are you saying that it would've been better to replace the entire pane just for a small crack like that??

(Original tank glass thickness 8mm. Replacement pane on top of cracked pane 5mm thick)
