Great thread... all of that info just sorta went in one ear and out the other though rofl...
So ok.. if you don't use tank water in the drop checker, what do you use now? Bit confused about that part... and well... a bunch of the other parts as well o_O... I'm not much for the scientific explanations to things.. just tell me how it's supposed to work and I'm good rofl

Woot! We got our canister today! It's a lot heavier than I thought it would be *shrugs*

Now just waiting on the regulator, which will hopefully get here tomorrow... and then hopefully get the canister filled on Friday :D

I have an update, my Co2 is working well, but i have to fiddle with the needle valve sometimes to make sure that it is regulated. Otherwise the drop checker seems to be showing green tint, so we are good.
Now i have noticed that since putting on my diffuser, my overall output of the canister filter is reduced (i expected this) also i have recently added a UV filter, so that has also decreased the output. I am wondering if i were to remove the diffuser, would the output increase again. Or maybe adding a 1" pipe instead of 1.5" pipe would make an overall difference. The canister filter moves around 300gph. I think that by keeping it slower, the canister is actually filtering more garbage out. I am thinking about looking at the diffuser on foster and smith that is plug and creates a vortex for Co2 to dissolve in. A guy i know has one and he seems to like it very much. But it is 30 bucks plus shipping...
WWJD?

Lol....

Well if you do get the one off of foster&smith, tell us how it is :D

I really can't wait to get ours all set up and doing! Really hope this little filter will work the way I'm hoping it will as a diffuser... We shall see :)

Alrighty, we got the regulator FINALLY today. Freakin Fedex taking forever to deliver it.

Question, it doesn't have one of those black rubber seal ring things. It fits fine on the canister, but thought I had read somewhere that you should get one of those to make sure that it's sealed as tightly as possible. Did I just imagine things or should we get something like that?

I got 2 black rubber gaskets on my regulator. They were tied to the twist tie on my power cord for the electric off. so i am going to yes, you should have them.
Grab it and go to the hardware store or the place you got your tank filled.

Don't have the tank filled yet :D
Will probably take it to Home Depot or something and get 1? 2? for it.

That's a familar looking setup. :)

I didn't get o-rings with mine either. If I recall correctly, I used a little (two wraps) teflon tape on the threads when connecting the regulator to the tank. If you use teflon tape, be careful that it is only on the threads and isn't exposed to any of the internal passages. The reason is you don't want a piece of it coming off and getting into the regulator where it would plug up a passage.

Mine is running great so far.

OOO I'm so excited!..... and I just can't hide it!... :p lol sorry couldn't resist.
But hopefully tomorrow, DH will take the canister to get filled after work!
So anxious to get it all set up and running already :D
I dunno what I'm expecting heh... act like the plants are gonna just all of a sudden go crazy in 24hrs :p
When should I see improvement in plant growth though?
Week? 2 weeks? Month?

Guess I should've asked this before, but what readings should we be aiming for on the regulator?
Also w/ the bubble counter thing that came w/ the regulator, does that need to have water in it? Read on a website that it should but *shrugs*

I'll check mine when I get home tonight and let you know what mine are set at.

Yes the bubble counter needs water in it, enough so that you can see the bubbles coming out of the lower tube but not so much that the CO2 can't get into upper tube.

HTH.

Greg

i have my bubble counter filled about 3/4 of the way with water.
As for the pressure on the Co2 tank, i have mine at 2 turns from fully closed.
As long as it the pressure gets out, and you have the needle to fine tune it. I dont know that the pressure on the main tank matters as much.
I would expect the growth to start within 5 days. Mine have grown big time from when i first started, also noticed algae is starting to disappear.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm SO PO'd though. We don't have our canister today. Had to leave it at the welding place.
Why?
B/c the lazy buttholes there apparently "shut down" whatever it is that they use to fill up the tanks.
That wouldn't be so bad if my husband had gotten there right before closing. I could understand it then...
But he got there a full freaking HOUR before they close.. WTH?
Good for nothin turds! UGH...
So he left it there and will be picking it up Monday. SIGH......
