Morning all. After a bit of advice on the current state of our fishless cycle. We started 4 weeks ago today. We have a 96l, lighly planted tank with a split gravel and sand substrate.

What do you make of these results because we are really scratching our heads about it.......

I've put if from the first time we saw a drop in our nitrites. Our ammonia had been dropping from 5ppm to 0ppm for 6 days before this

08.08.07 08:00
Amm= 0.00
Nitrite= 0.5

08.08.07 19:45
Amm= 0.00
Nitrite=Off chart

09.08.07 08:00
Amm= 0.00
Nitrite=0.50

09.08.07 18:00
Amm= 0.00
Nitrite= 6.00

10.08.07 08:00
Amm= 0.00
Nitrite= 0.00

10.08.07 19:30
Amm= 0.00
Nitrite= 1.00

11.08.07 09:00
Amm= 0.00
Nitrite= 0.00

The only variable in this is between 08:00 and 20:00 the lights in our tank are on. Could this be causing a reduction in the Nitrite being processed? There is clearly sufficient bacteria there to process the nitrite as overnight, when the lights are off, it is dropping to a clear 0.00ppm (using the API master kit). Thanks a lot. :good:
