I’ve upgraded to a digital heater that’s remote controlled due to never having a good experience with any others, apart from the fluval edge 25w for a different tank. Apart from being on the larger side as expected I think it’s fine and does the job. It’s taking time to stabilise the temperature too as normal. My question is could the light be keeping my fish awake? It’s enough to fish through to the room but it isn’t bright as such. Doesn’t bother me, however I’m wondering if it’s bothering my guppies? Or could shadows be bothering them? I’d also like to know exactly what temperature to set it too hopefully once it stabilises I will find out if or not it truly works. It’s got better with time as it’s only been set up for around a day. It currently set to to 24c. It was set to 26 but the light changed from blue and red to just red which I’m guessing showed the temperature wasn’t the best. The heater it 100w. Any help or advice is appreciated, thank you :)

Most likely red just means that the heater is on as the actual temperature is below the set point. Avg temp for tropical fish is 76F - 80F (24c - 27c), I have mine set at 77F to yield an actual temp of 76F. The accuracy of controllers are +/- 1 or 2 degrees so you should check with a good thermometer.
It's not likely that the LED readout would be a problem for the fish, but you could relocate the control or simply tape a piece of paper to cover.

Many thanks for your help. I’m glad it won’t cause a problem. I’ll leabe it on 24c ober night and settbit to 77F in the morning. What type of tape would you recommend? I did think of just moving a live plant in front of it but then it will be difficult to view the temperature. Thank you for your help :)
