Yes peas are good for plecs it might just be constipation.
Cook peas for a few minutes in boiling water, let cool down, pop out of shell, mush between fingers and add to the tank.
All the fish will benefit from the peas.

Might have missed it, but have you already tested your tap water?

no ... but i can't imagine there being ammonia or nitrites in the water ... there aren't any in the tank and there's been no outbreak in the LFS
was planning to do a comprehensive test of the tap water tomorrow.

Might be worth checking for nitrates as well. Those can fluctiate pretty rapidly, and high amounts could do the exact thing that happened to your cories.

had a good look at my fish today and they're all looking great!!!

most of the white poo that was on the floor of my tank seems to have disappeared =S but the corys are munching on the peas!! yay!! the smaller bronze corys are loving the peas!

thanks for the help all! i think they're ok .... i'll make sure i only up the temperature slowly next time! =)
