not sure whats wrong with my corys

i changed the water in my tank last night and overnight 2 of my corys bred. there are eggs on the side of the glass.

now the 2 corys that i suspect bred, are moving their gills extremely quickly and the female seems to have gone "crazy," as in she swims around the tank, lies down on a plant and if the plant tips back and tips her backwards then she holds still for about aminute before moving.

tank temps are 28c at the moment because i'm prepping for discus and water conditions are GH is about 7d, KH is about 2d and pH about 6.9.

Hi

Where are you? it helps a lot to fill in your location in your profile and what corys are they as most dont like being in water that hot.
Have a look at this thread for info on spawning corys

Have you increased aeration in the tank as high temp reduces 02 in the water.

Corys are bottom dwellers as you know, and it rough down there if the temp is high and there not enough aeration in the tank.

they're peppered corys.

i've increased aeration as soon as i noticed because i thought it may be lack of o2

but .... it may be some marker pen that was on the filter wool that i put into the tank when i did my water change =/

carbon has been put into my 2 filters to see if it can be taken out asap.

will let you know how they get on .... hopefully should make the night.

thanks!

I would do a water change as well then, good luck.

I would remove the pepper corys at they like cool water like 68-76 max.. adding corys that are not suited to warmer waters will reduce their life. There are a few, but not many that are suited to warm water such as sterbai, gossei, adolfoi, duplicareus and a few others

20 litre water change done as well

just a quick look before i head off to bed ... the female looks like shes breathing normally but the 2 smaller males are moving the gills pretty quickly

will see in the morning

thanks guys and gals!

edit: the female just gave me a scare because she was resting upside down ... all the corys seem to have a problem staying flat .... =S=S

How they doing.

they seem to be doing better this evening. just got home from work and no deaths yet!! which is relieving ... so i'm lead to believe that the shock of the higher temps might be causing them to breathe more quickly ... bumped the temp up too quickly =/

on another note .... i've found some white poo on the floor of my tank .... worms?? =S but not sure how they would have gotten in there.

White poo can be constipation, bacterial infection, to internal parasites.
Try some shelled peas to flush them through.

i'm pretty sure its just my plec that has the white poo ... shes probably not getting enough greens ... i'll drop a few peas in tonight
