Im cycling a 250L tank at the moment and wanted a catfish or 2, maybe a small plec for cleaning the sand and to bring life to the bottom of the tank,
i also wanted to get some shrimp, would this be possible or will the catfish/plec eat the shrimp?

Cories and shrimp are fine, in my experience. Never had any form of plec, but as far as I'm aware, they ignore shrimp too.

From personal experience corys get along just fine with shrimp and bristle nose catfish also leave them alone.

I have been surprised that even my Pakastani loaches show no interest in my cherry shrimp (although that may change as the snail population disappears), my dwarf chain loaches also seem cherry shrimp safe as are my Khuli loaches.

just be mindfull of what type of plec you choose, some grow huge and if you have a sand substrate, everytime the plec moves you get a explosion of sand as someone i knew found out

On a similar note, do you think I could put a couple of shrimp into my 90ltr tank?? It will eventually be home to 6 Danios, 6 cherry barbs, and 4 panda corys...

what type of shrimp were you thinking, most will be ok with that stocking although i will say danios are really fast swimmers and are happier in longer tanks, how long is your 90L

It's 30 inches long , got 4 danios at the minute but I have read that there should be 6 minimum?? Was just thinking about a couple of cherry shrimps and how they might be a cool addition to my tank?

Don't see any problems at all, Elvis. Provide them with some Java Moss, they love it.

Cool, thanks for the advice. Was just after a couple, don't really want to crowd the tank with them. am I better with a pair the same sex??

unfortunatly cherry shrimp are a little like rabbits, but alot of the babies might get eaten, so that will keep numbers down for you, they are a great addition to any tank
