Corydoras

I'm unsure wether I'm able to keep corys in my tank I've got
6 red eye tetras
6 green tiger barbs
10 neons
2 african dwarf frogs
And a vampire crab

I've got a 130 litre tank

I would say absolutely not. Tiger barbs can be vicious little nippers. Cories are push overs. Not a good mix.


But, then again, I wouldn't have put neons with them either. Nor would I have put a crab or frogs with fish either.

Sounds like you're trying to jam as many species as possible into your tank. Corydoras would not be a good match with what you have.

No I'm not trying to jam as many species as possible just going for things that I haven't seen in many tanks before the crab and frogs get on fine never had any problems with them even when they were in a 6 gallon together but I won't take the risk with corys thanks for ur help guys

Mate, had it occured to you that there might be a very good reason why you don't see those things in many tanks?

Oh, I wasn't suggesting you were stupid, apologies if that came across wrong; it wasn't meant that way at all. I'm sure you'll keep an eye on things perfectly; I was just trying to give you a heads up that it may not carry on working as well as it is now, that's all. I'm sorry if it sounded otherwise.

Ok no probz that's the thing when typing we can't tell the difference between being serious and friendly advice sorry I responded the way I did I know we r all here in the best interests in the fish. Yeah I will keep an eye I spend at least an hour a day just watching my tank so if I do get any problems I will take out whatever is causing it thanks for ur help even though I read it the wrong way lol

If you do any kind of research at all, you will find Vampire crabs shouldnt be in fish tanks. They need more land then water... They need more of a terrarium or palludarium settup, similar to that of land hermit crabs but with fresh water rather than salt water. With 2/3 land and 1/3 water.

Keeping them in a fully aquatic tank will end up killing them. Dont know why nobody bothers researchnig them before buying them poor mites, they are so beautiful too!

I have seen some ace setups for them! Silicone in a bit of glass or plastic 2/3 down a tank, fill the larger section with a mixof sand and vivarium soil and the smaller 3rd with water and a pebble or two. Use corkbark or somethnig as a step between the water and land. Can also grow plants like the Dracenia or Ophioghon if the bases are surrounded by pebbles.... Looks an amazing setup....

I know I realised that they need more land after I bought him stupid of me not to research it I know I should now not to listen to the lfs but I've made a sort ramp up the side so he can get up on to my tray on top so he has got the whole of that to live on for now until I can afford to get another tank set up for him to live in. Another question for you all is are vampire crabs teritorial if not ill get a few more when I've set up my new tank
