My cory that got a little beat up was doing great yesterday, he was just chilling at the bottom swimming a bit. I woke up this morning for school and he was laying on his side, i thought he was dead at first and later checked to find out her was still alive. I had about 2 minutes before i had to leave and panicked thinking he was like that from the cold of a one gallon tank with no heater, and threw him in my larger tank for the warmth. Did i essentially just kill him? If not what would be the best approach, because im still at school now :'(

yes putting him in a warm tank from a cold tank can cause shock and stress.
Shouldn't of moved him from the tank with no heater, should of just put him in a container at the top of the tank if you
had no hospital tank.
How many gallons is your tank.
How many fish and which type.
Fish could of been picking on him if he ill, laying to onside can be bacterial infection.

He was in my hospital tank but i dont have a heater right now, i recently just bought a heater for my big tank. I just bought him the other day and also bought 2 other cories, im not sure why he got picked on and i know its not fin rot.

Hospital tank: only 2 gallons
Main tank: 46 gallon, tank mates are 2 small blood parrots( im assuming they are the culprits) 4 gouramis(2 blue 2 gold), 3 other cories( 2 emerald, 1 salt and pepper), and one albino chocolate pleco.
Thanks wilder

Hows the cory now has he died.
Don't know anything about blood parrots, so don't know if there had ago at him.
He sounds in a bad way and once corys lay on there sides bad news.
The fish might of been picking on him if he was already ill, as fish can be nasty at times.

You can buy heaters for 2 gals shouldn't cost that much.

Hi Repeat :)

Ohhh, what ever made you put the cichlids and corys together? :( That's a very poor combination because the corys are defenseless against them. The other corys are at risk too, and will need you to do something to protect them.

Quickly changing the temperature of the water from cold to warm can indeed cause stress to the fish, but the effects might not be noticed right away. If you've saved his life, please keep a special eye on him for a few weeks.

I just spent my last paycheck :( and im not home yet and wont be for 3 hours to check on him :(
I was kind of thinking he was ill to begin with, because their is a smaller cory in my tank now and i have never had a problem with fin nipping.

Has the poorly cory died or is he still alive.

He died, he was a little bloated as well so i think he was ill when i got him sunday, and i also came home to one of my gouramis dead in my filter :rip:

Sorry not a good day for you.
R.I.P. Bless Him.
