Hi everyone, so I'm new to this forum and to keeping fish generally. My cory catfish appears to have columnaris. A couple of weeks ago he had a little patch of fluffy white on his back near the fin, I assumed it was fungus and treated it with pimafix, melafix and doing water changes every day/few days. The fluff went away, so I thought that was the end of it. I had to go away for 4 days for work and when I got back I noticed his mouth looks like it had been worn away. I asked the person who looked after him and they said he had been fine the whole time I was away. I went to the pet shop today and they tested my water and said it was fine (apologies that I don't have the numbers to back that up!). They said to just keep treating with pimafix and suggested changing to sand which I have done because I initially I thought the gravel I had might have been a source of some trauma to his barbels/mouth.
When I got home today it seems to have progressed, his barbels are gone and his mouth is really being eaten away. This makes me think it's columnaris. He isn't as active as usual but he is still swimming around sometimes. He's not eating I don't think but his mouth is pretty bad. He is in a tiny tank (15 litre) by himself with a filter and heater which I lowered to 25 degrees. The last time I did a water change was on Tuesday when I did about 30%.
There seems to be a whole heap of competing info out there, mostly it seems to suggest treating with maracyn which I don't have easy access to here in Australia. Any guidance about what I might be able to use would be appreciated. And sorry if this has been dealt with in a post elsewhere!
Thanks
