Corals What Ones

what hard corals wouldnt like that light just my lfs has really nice traphillias in button corals, open brain crorals, closed brains, bubble coral, button corals, torch corals and hameer corals

Additives only need to be added once elemnts are tested for and found to be low..regular water changes will eliminate the need for these normally , unless a fully stocked reef , when regular tests are required to check for deficincies in elements such as magnesium and calcium...
The trachy's, brains and bubble would need to be set low out of direct halide light but would still be ok in there...
Torches , hammers, most lps even do not require strong light but will be ok...
Mainly sps species that crave the ultra high lighting

Any of those you've listed will be fine under your current lights mate

ok thanks for that bud i got my first hammer corals and frogspawn corals and bubble corals but everyone is out exept the hammer corals any ideas they have been in the tanks since 12.00 today and just has not opened got the single halide light at 6.00am this morning really nice pice of equitment how much more would i be talking about onn my electristy bill with this light it is on 10hrs a day and blue is onn for 1hr at night so how much more do you reckon

thanks

The euphyllias will need to be at the bottom of the tank with a halide, they are not high light loving corals

Tone in your lights..burn a white tube for about 2-3 hours, kick up the halide for around 6 and then back to white tube for another two until you go blue only..burn the blue for this entire photo period...
Keep the hammer out of direct flow and it should be happy..any euphillia is happier in a low flow mate.....hammer and frogspawn

a 150 watt halide will cost you approximately 16p to run a day for 10 hours, of course depending on how much your electricity provider charges you per kilowatt.

how many whats are the actinic's that are running for an hour?

did oyu acclimatise them before putting them in?

Also waht lighting were they under at the LFS, the MH might be much for them, you may need to light acclimatise them as well.

My corals usually start opening while I acclimatise them, but i'd give them a bit to open. You might have too much flow on them, that could cause them to stay closed too. I've found that my hammer coral doesn't like direct flow or the stingers come out and it starts to close. I have mine on the substrate under a rock... this is because i have to keep it out of direct 250W 15000k mh's.

yes i did aclamate them for 2 hrs and i driped acclipatised not a good speller sorry

there are down the bottom right now and opened right up so i am happy with that there was a small anemone that was attached to the coral but when it opend up fully it was to big and took it straght back to the lfs as i have got a few power heads and didnt want him to die as i have never lost a fish and dont want to in this set up

all ,me and my mate want to know is how much more i would have to pay for the bill as i my have to get rid of my protine skimmer and a few power heads as my bill is already 450 a monnth and it is hard enought in this ecominy trying to pay for things right now

450 pounds per month!?!?!?!
how much is electricity in the UK? I got a 90 gallon running with 2x250W MHs and room air conditioners in 2 rooms all day and my electric bill was $120 last month.

dont ask there 4 of us it is has 5 room high rised flat on the top floor and the bill has went up it was 225 but the last few months it has went higher probably because tey dont turn things off

so how much am i talking about for running a halide light

Mine costs about 3- 5 pound a week i'd say..if only on a few hours with tubes before and after it wont be too bad..run it all day and that's when things go nuts...for lps and softies you wont really need it i'd say

so your 150w halide only costs you 3-5 more a week thats not bad mate have you got white cubes on your also then the halide
