hi. will jack dempseys be okay with convicts? It is a 30g tank.

Nope, JD's need a minimum tanksize of 45G, for the two your looking at a 60G
In a 30G there isn't enough room for territories and one will end up being killed.

Got to agree with Davo, 30g is only big enough for a pair of Convicts. The JD will need a bigger home.
