I was browsing Craig's List and saw an add for two Convict Cichlids that are 3-4 inches long. They live in the same city as me, and they're for sale for $1.00. The only problem is that all I have now is a 15 Gallon Community tank. I am getting a 55 Gallon tank soon, so could I put them in my community tank until I get my new tank? It's such a good offer I'd hate to give it up.
Thanks for any help!

It would totally change the plans we were talking about in your other thread - Convicts are incredibly aggressive and if those two are a pair could cause havoc in a 50g, possibly claiming the whole tank for them selves.

Also Convicts breed constantly so they are a very common fish so I think a $ a fish is not really that cheap - I have had to give away much rarer fish for free just to get rid of them at times...

I think you would be better off with your original plan :)

No, those two would have the 15 Gallon all to them selves once I get the 55g

Ah right no sorry IMO 15g is too small for these fish as Convicts get quite large and chunky - also if a male goes in a strop the female has no where to go. A 15g would also be quickly over populated by fry.

Ohhhhh yes! I had the 'milder' Honduran Red Points and he could be very grumpy and the female would take a beating. Often meaning i had to remove him to another tank whilst he picked his toys back up.
