My convict cichlid had a fungus white cottony growth on it, so I'm now treating it with Pimafix. But what I really want to know is what causes the fungus growth?
Its probs best to post this in the tropical emergencies. But as far as I know fugus is caused when an open wound becomes infected, which is caused by stress which could be due to the wound. Any ideas how it was caused? Does he/she fight with anyone much? Whats the tank like etc?
Are there any other agressive fish in the tank? A 25g is good for a pair . Only other thing I can think of is if they were digging out a spawning sight and ripped her lip on the gravel? Also if the fish have locked lips at some point while displaying to each other it could have happened then?
