converting freshwater to brackish

is there a difference between FW bacteria and brackish bacteria, and will i have to cycle my tank all over? also what should be the salt level(dont know word) of a brackish tank?

I would think so, I have no idea but all the salt might kill of the bacteria? Once again I have no idea...sorry.

nope just add the salt slowly up to your desired SG (salt level) and the bacteria will stay with you.

the SG level you need depends on what fish your keeping. I see you have knight gobies in your signature these are a low end brackish fish so will live happilly in a SG aorund 1.005, although mine are happily living in 1.012.

so i will slowly add the salt to the tank...is this over a period of days, hours, weeks? EDIT: oh yeah i love my knight gobies, i actually made the species ID in the fish index on my other name, snar.
