There is also the fact that, once completely full of water, if you tip it a bit so that most of the air comes out, there's little need to prime: a single pump usually does the job, get a few air bubbles but not so big that the impeller can't deal with them, and they're gone within 5 seconds of the filter going back on.

So. Trip to town have come home with 10 black neons (that's all they had) for the price of 9 (I love being a regular!)

No blues, they don't get them cuz they don't sell apparently. So I asked if they could order me some special, and he disappeared to ask. Came back and said the guy who orders the stock said no cuz he didn't believe a customer actually wanted any! On so my way out I wrote him a note with my name & number and then waved at the camera as I walked out the door!

Your LFS sounds pretty terrible. I know you've been trying to avoid postage costs, but if you could get your ideal stocklist delivered all at once from one source it might be worth it!

You might be right Tom. If I can find the blue tetras & habrosus cories somewhere online I'll go for it, but so far I can't find both at the same place. I'll let these settle and go from there. Going to try MA in Ashton first, as a last ditch attempt if all else fails.

Well... I'm a bit stunned!

I rang the lfs to chase up the comment about the tetras, and I got the manager. Explained why I was ringing, that I was in earlier in the week and was looking for 20-25 blue tetras and that I had asked but that the staff member came back and said that whoever it was didn't believe him and therefore I couldn't have any. So he took the scientific name and sent an email to the suppliers about it asking for them to be added to the order, and took my number promising to ring me either tomorrow or Monday morning to let me know if they had them/didn't have them. I did also explain that it wasn't urgent so if it took them a while to get them in it was no bother.

So I'm thinking, ok, we have a reasonably successful phone call, and hopefully I'll get fish I want after all, and then he says "when we do get them in, you can have 10 of them for free. If we don't get them in you can have 10 of a different tetra for free, or an ornament up to the value of about £15, because it was me who the guy spoke to earlier on in the week and I was jesting with him about not believing him, but obviously didn't communicate that very well and now I feel a right pratt! I'm really sorry!"

So now I'm all
